Symposium about tourism architecture in Austria
from the 10th to the 11th of October 2007 in the Festspielhaus in Bregenz / Vorarlberg


Which advantages does contemporary architechture offer for the tourism industry?

• For businesses, regions, provinces? For Austria as a tourism country?
• How can architecture be used to augment the economical success of any business? Where are chances and risksto be found?
• What kind of experiences have pioneers of Austrian architecture
made?
• What is to be taken into account when businesses of the tourism industry, architects and companies of the building sector work together?

These key questions are in the focus of the study "Architecture attracts visitors" that was carried out by platou on behalf of the ministry of economy, the chamber of economy of Austria (WIFI) and Vorarlberg tourism.

Results and best-practice.examples of the study were shown for the first time in the city of Bregenz.

Wednesday 10th of October 2007

• Excursion "Tourism-architecture in Vorarlberg", in the evening welcome at the Kunsthaus Bregenz with an included guided tour of the exhibition of the work of the architect Peter Zumthor „Arbeiten 1986-2007“, following a speech by
Annalisa Zumthor and Get together at the Landestheater Bregenz.

Thursday, 11th of October 2007

• Welcome and introduction by Christian Schützinger, Vorarlberg Tourismus, and represantatives of the BMWA and WKO
• Presentation of the study results by Bibiane Hromas, Nikolaus Thaller und Brigitte Weiss.
• Felizitas Romeiß-Stracke, for 30 years she has been leading the office for social and leisure studies in Munich:
